Today, Rob and I had the rare combination of a free day and good weather so we decided to take a day trip out to Eastern Long Island to visit a pick your own strawberry patch. I had never picked strawberries before but they are one of my favorite fruits and I thought the outing would be fun and possibly yield a photo opportunity or two for shots like these:
By the end of the afternoon, we had 2 quarts of fresh picked strawberries, a couple of photos, and two mild sunburns.
We also stopped by some road-side farm stands to pick up some fresh asparagus, which Rob used to make this. It was our first attempt at cooking something with shrimp in it. Sauteed fresh asparagus is surprisingly fragrant and insanely flavorful! The shrimp was a little spicy for my taste (with both ginger and sesame oil) but I think if we adjust a few things here or there, and throw it over some pasta, we will have a dish that I could eat almost every day.
And now, if you will excuse me, the Tony Awards are on and I get to end this wonderful day geeking out over Broadway musicals. Talk to you soon!
