Featured Artist: Nikki O’Shea of Dragonpress Graphics
Creator of Graphite Portraits and Fantasy / Anime Inspired Art

This week’s Spotlight Etsy Artist is Nikki O’Shea from Dragonpress Graphics. Nikki creates fun fantasy and anime style art and makes frequent appearances at science fiction, fantasy, and anime conventions, like the upcoming Anime Boston Convention where she will have a table in the artist alley. If you love fairies, dragons, and adorable mythic critters, you will love Nikki’s work.

But as much as I love the personality and charm of Nikki’s “fannish” work, I am head over heels in love with her stunning graphite portraits. My favorite example is the picture shown above which is a piece that she originally did for me, inspired by a photo I took of my goddaughter dancing on my husband’s feet at a family wedding. I love how it captures a special moment in such stunning detail! I don’t have a lot of room to hang artwork in my house but this picture has pride of place in my living room.

This moment, of a young girl dancing with a special person in her life, is such a universal thing. Although I know that the people featured in the original photo were Uncle and Niece, this lovely graphite portrait always makes me think of the bond between a father and daughter and I think it would make a lovely Father Daughter Gift – either for Father’s Day or maybe as a sentimental wedding keepsake – to commemorate the fact that she will always be Daddy’s little girl.

This beautiful portrait (and more of Nikki’s wonderful art) is available in her Etsy shop.  (Use the coupon code: CSTEN to receive a 10% discount on your order).

Nikki also takes commissions so you can have her capture your special memories as a one of a kind piece of art. For more details, visit:

If you have an Etsy shop or know of one that you think I should feature, please feel free to let me know.

Don’t forget that the St. Patrick’s Day Sale over at my own Etsy shop ends tomorrow so stop by and check out my handmade literary jewelry inspired by famous Irish writers!

And here are a few more wonderful handmade items that I have discovered this week, many of which have a Spring – time theme. Enjoy!

About Ciarrai

Hi. My name is Kerry but here online I tend to go by the Gaelic version of my name, Ciarrai. I am a woman in my mid-30's who lives on Long Island, NY, with my husband, Rob, several guitars, a Nikon D40, more yarn, beads and books than I care to admit to and a cat who has a million nicknames and quite a few theme songs. I have a B.A. in Psychology and have recently returned to college to pursue a teaching degree so that I can eventually get a job as a High School English teacher. In addition to my major obsessions (Reading, Beading, Knitting, Music and Photography), I also enjoy playing Board Games, going to Renaissance Faires, Museums and Broadway Musicals.
